The MVAOCOU softball team traveled to Battle Creek to start the 2019 season and Western Valley Conference schedule. They faced OA-BCIG on May 20.

OA-BCIG led 5-2 after the second inning, and the Rams couldn’t rally back, falling 7-5.

MaKenzie Smith led the Rams at the plate from the leadoff spot with three hits and two RBIs. Shelby Davis collected two hits, while Kenedee Bubke and Beau Mohr each had one. Bubke and Davis each had an RBI.

In the circle, Bubke took the loss, allowing nine hits, walked two, and struck out four.

The Rams were able to hold off OA-BCIG on May 20 to get their first win of the season, 4-2. MVAOCOU didn’t waste time getting on the board. They scored two runs in the top of the first inning. They added two more in the fifth.

Zak Scott was three of four at the plate for the Rams with two stolen bases. Aaron Michael had two hits, and Cameron Boyle recorded one hit and two RBIs.

Michael picked up the win on the hill as he pitched five innings. He allowed just one hit, one earned run, walked four, and had nine strikeouts. Brady Seuntjens finished the game allowing two hits and striking out two.

West Monona 15

May 22, 2019

West Monona scored 11 runs in the second inning as they beat MVAOCOU 15-0 on May 22.

Beau Mohr had the only hit for the Rams on the night.

MaKenzie Smith and Emily Trucke both saw time in the circle, allowing 15 hits, 15 runs (14 earned), and four walks.

West Monona 0

May 22, 2019

MVAOCOU held West Monona scoreless as they collected a 4-0 victory on May 22. Zak Scott collected the win on the mound. He allowed six hits, walked one, and had 14 strikeouts.

Six different Rams collected a hit. Aaron Michael and Brady Seuntjens who each had two hits. Ely Fundermann, Dylan Marshall, Cameron Boyle, and Haden Kuhl all recorded a hit. Marshall’s hit was a two run RBI.

Woodbury Central 12

May 24, 2019

After leading 6-3 going into the sixth innings, the Rams give up nine runs in the bottom of the sixth, which helped Woodbury Central get a 12-6 win.

The Rams had eight hits on the night. MaKenzie Smith, Emily Trucke, and Shelby Davis each had two apiece, and Beau Mohr and Cheslee Yockey each had one hit. Mohr had two RBIs and two stolen bases.

Bubke gave-up 10 hits, 11 runs (two earned), walked one, and had three strikeouts in the loss.

Woodbury Central 5

May 24, 2019

After Woodbury Central scored four runs in the second inning, the Rams answered with three runs in the third and fourth innings, which helped MVAOCOU rally to get the 7-5 win.

Zak Scott led the Rams at the plate. Scott was three of four. Dylan Marshall also had a strong hitting night with two hits and two RBIs. The Rams had eight hits against Woodbury Central.

Aaron Michael had 12 strikeouts in the win. He allowed just three hits, four runs, and walked two. Brady Seuntjens pitched the final inning, allowing one run. He recorded one strikeout.
