Helping hands spruce up Fairgrounds
More than 80 4-H'ers, family members, Extension staff, and Fairboard members turned up on Sunday afternoon to get the buildings and grounds ready for the 2010 Washington County Fair.

The fair opens on Friday, August 6, despite the June flooding which inundated the fairgrounds. Jason Arp, with "Knee Deep," pumped for 48 hours and took out over 10 million gallons of floodwater, before the fairgrounds were able to dry out.

The volunteers who came to the fairgrounds Sunday painted buildings inside and out, swept, raked, and put crushed rock around the buildings. Gary Lambrecht, who was in charge of the clean-up, had nothing but praise for the volunteers.

"Everyone dug in and worked really hard to get the fairgrounds ready," said Lambrecht. "We appreciate the support of the entire community."
