Former Dana star earns induction into Nebraska Football Hall of Fame
One of the all-time great Dana College quarterbacks will be inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in September.

Allan Pogue, who quarterbacked the Vikings from 1984-1987, threw for 7,505 career yards (which ranks him in the Top 10 all-time passers in the NAIA) and led Dana to a first-time-ever appearance in the NAIA playoffs in 1987.

He holds, or is in the top five of 16 all-time Dana records, and took the Vikings from a 3-6 record his freshman year to an 8-3 mark his senior season.

Pogue was inducted into the Dana College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.

As a scrambling, throwing, 6-foot, 185-pound signal caller, Pogue was twice named Nebraska State College Offensive Player of the Year by the Lincoln Journal-Star (1986 & 1987) and was named the National Player of the Week (in November of 1985 and September of 1986).

He was named to the all-conference team three times, all-district twice, and he was twice named the captain of the Omaha World-Herald College All-State teams.

All those honors helped Pogue earn a spot in this year’s class of inductees into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame from the state college-university division.

Pogue will be joined by Gerald Allen of Omaha University, and Tom Emel of Hastings College in an induction ceremony that will be held Sept. 2 in Lincoln. They also will be recognized on the field before the Nebraska-Maine football game on Sept. 3.

Former Cornhuskers voted into the Shrine include Aaron Graham, Travis Hill, Barron Miles, Dick Rupert, Scott Strasburger and Pat Tyrance.

Ted Conner, also a former Husker, will be inducted in the veterans division, along with former defensive secondary and freshman coach Jim Ross, who will join in the coaching division.

Former Nebraska coach Milt Tenopir will receive the chapter’s Lyell Bremser special merit award, and Russell Brehm of Lincoln has been chosen for the Clarence E. Swarnson meritorious service award.
