Duane V. Anderson was born September 19, 1945 to Duane and Anna May (Ives) Anderson, in a small home built by his parents, in Omaha, Nebraska. He passed away October 4, 2018 at Oakland Heights in Oakland, Nebraska, at the age of 73.
Duane attended school at Beal Young School, Norris Junior High School, Central High School, Omaha College and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He earned his Bachelor’s in Journalism from the University.
On December 29, 1967, Duane married Nanette Kay Wigren. They spent fifty years of love together in their personally built home in Pepperwood Estates.
Duane worked for Western Electric for 13 years. He worked at Mutual of Omaha for a year, flying on airplanes around the world helping to film promos. He went on to work at WOW-TV from 1974-1976 and WOWT-TV from 1976-2009. He always said, “There is not one job I did for WOWT-TV that I did not work at the highest level of joy.”
Duane and Nan took vacations to Miami Beach and Key West, Florida. They visited Wyoming, Utah, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Colorado. They traveled from Los Angeles to Oahu and Maui, Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; wife, Nan.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Larry Wigren.
A funeral was held on Monday, October 8, 2018, 2:30 pm at the First Baptist Church in Oakland, Nebraska with Pastor Curt Hineline Officiating.
Pallbearers were Owen Hineline, Mikhail Hineline, Gene Goodwin, Teresa Goodwin, Anthony Goodwin, and Sara Goodwin.
Burial is in the Oakland Cemetery.
